How to protect yourself from viruses on your cell phone

ADS

Friends, let me tell you something: I've had one of those troubles with viruses on my cell phone!

You know when out of nowhere weird ads start to appear, your phone freezes and you feel like something is wrong? Well, that's exactly what happened to me.

And I thought these things only happened with computers, you know? But I learned the hard way that cell phones can also get viruses – and worse, they can even steal your data!

After getting a few scares and almost losing photos, passwords and even access to my accounts, I went looking for a good antivirus.

I've tried several and I'll tell you: there are some that save your life! So, if you don't use one yet, check out these tips because seriously, no one deserves to go through what I went through.

Why have an antivirus on your cell phone?

The truth is that nowadays we do everything on our cell phones, right? Banking, shopping, social media…

So, it's a perfect opportunity for us to fall into a trap. There are some links that seem harmless, but are actually scams in disguise.

Once, I almost ended up on a fake website thinking it was from my favorite store. Luckily, my antivirus alerted me right away!

Furthermore, a good antivirus not only protects you from viruses, but also blocks annoying calls, prevents apps from snooping on your information and even helps you find your phone if it is stolen.

In other words, it’s the kind of app that everyone should have.

Now let's go to the applications that I tested and approved:

1. McAfee Mobile Security – Hard-core protection

First of all, this is the antivirus for those who want to feel protected. It has a super-powerful scan that catches anything suspicious on your phone.

Also, one thing I LOVED was the protection against questionable Wi-Fi. If you're always connecting to public networks, like at a mall or a coffee shop, it warns you if the connection is dangerous.

Another wonderful detail: it has a tracker that takes a photo of the person who tries to unlock your cell phone incorrectly.

In other words, if someone uses your cell phone without permission, you will know immediately. I thought it was chic and necessary!

2. AVG Antivirus – The shield against traps

Secondly, this one was one of the easiest to use and, look, it works really well.

It scans apps, blocks dangerous links and even has a function that improves cell phone performance.

Yes, because sometimes the problem isn't the old cell phone, but rather a bunch of stuff running in the background, draining the battery.

And there’s more: it also helps you find your cell phone if you lose it or if someone “borrows” it without your permission.

How? You can activate a remote alarm that makes your phone beep at maximum volume. Imagine how crazy it would be if someone tried to hide their phone and it started beeping in their pocket? I loved it!

3. Sophos Intercept X – Simple but efficient

This one is for those who want protection without the hassle. It doesn't weigh down your phone and does everything automatically.

The best part? It’s ad-free! That’s right, no annoying ads while you’re using the app. That alone made me love it.

It also has a function that protects your passwords, so if you are always forgetting your bank password, social media password and everything else, it can be a good ally.

It also alerts you if any app on your phone is collecting information without you knowing. I found it essential!

4. Avira Antivirus Security – Small but Mighty

This was a great find! It's lightweight, fast, and has one of the best phishing blockers I've tested.

So, if you receive a lot of suspicious emails or strange messages on WhatsApp with dubious links, it will save you from falling for a scam.

Another amazing thing is that it even protects your microphone and camera from spying.

Yes, because there are some apps that activate these functions without permission and we don't even notice.

Plus, with Avira, you can block this and make sure no one is listening to your conversation without you knowing.

So, which antivirus to choose?

Well, it will depend on what you need. If you want an antivirus that blocks everything and also has a tracker, McAfee is the most complete.

If you want something light and practical, Sophos can be a great option. Now, if you are always landing on questionable websites and want extra protection against scams, Avira it's perfect.

What matters is that, regardless of which one you choose, have one! After I started using antivirus, I never had any problems again.

My phone doesn't freeze out of nowhere, I don't get weird ads and I feel much safer. So, friends, don't hesitate!
